Improvements come through Fair Lawn Main Street Inc and NJ Transit

“In cooperation with Elmwood Park, as well as the advice of members from the Fair Lawn Shade Tree Advisory Committee and Fair Lawn Green Team, Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. contracted Dare Commercial services to render significant landscaping operations at the Fair Lawn Broadway train station,” said Ryan Greff, Fair Lawn Main Street Inc Executive Director.

Fair Lawn has received another grant that will help revitalize its Broadway business district, this time focusing on creating a streetscape plan for the area.

The borough's business arm, Main Street Inc, has received a $43,500 grant to plan the development of Broadway, which may include “sidewalk improvements, lighting, furniture, public art, traffic calming and other elements.”

Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. is calling on residents and shoppers to share their thoughts on how they would like the Fair Lawn Avenue and River Road business district to evolve. The feedback will help shape future projects as the local economic development group partners with Main Street America, a national consulting organization, to reimagine the area.

Many people tend to take pride in where they're from, but residents of one Bergen town may have proof to back it up. Of 1,321 total municipalities rated, FAIR LAWN has ranked as the sixth-best small city in which to live across the country, according to a recent report from WalletHub.

If you haven't been to JJ's, you probably haven't been in town that long." JJ's Pub, corner of Broadway and Plaza Road, is a popular bar and grill locals have enjoyed for 45 years. On Saturday, Oct. 28, owners and Deputy Mayor Cristina Cutrone cut the ribbon on the bar's recent facelift.

Morlot Wines & Liquors cut the ribbon on its new storefront on October 27 with local dignitaries on hand to congratulate the business owners. Largely due to the efforts of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc and its Storefront Improvement Committee, several borough businesses have partaken in the storefront revitalization effort.

The borough has been designated a film-ready community, according to the director of Main Street Inc. "We're one of the first communities to achieve this," Ryan Greff, director of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc told the Borough Council on November 28.

Collectors were abuzz last Saturday when "America's Pastime" cut the ribbon on its new store facade.

The baseball card store, which carries autographed items, sports gifts and more, joined two of its neighbors who all celebrated their new storefronts.

Fair Lawn Main Street's Andrew Clark was honored at the New Jersey Business & Industry Association’s (NJBIA) 9th Annual New Jersey Women Business Leaders Forum. Clark is one of only five recipients of the 2023 Rising Star Award.

This summer, Fair Lawn saw the return of the Small Business Scavenger Hunt, making its second year of running. Trustees of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. presented members of the Fair Lawn Historic Preservation Commission and Cadmus House Museum Board with 5000 recently printed educational brochures outlining aspects of the history of Fair Lawn. The Brochures highlight the historic events of Fair Lawn and significant developments (including commercial property developments) that took place throughout the Borough's nearly hundred-year history.

In 2022, Fair Lawn began a pilot program to improve the facades of its downtown shops, offering eligible businesses $10,000 grants to improve signage and other street-facing elements.

A local businesswoman is part of a movement. The movement is making Fair Lawn a renewed place to do business in New Jersey. "Thank you so much for your kind words!" Abigail Polizois is being recognized in the Real Estate and Development category of CIANJ's 3rd Annual Enterprising Women in Commerce Awards, which took place on August 16th. The awards recognize and celebrate enterprising women who have achieved success in their industries through hard work, determination, and perseverance.

On Monday, the borough of Fair Lawn held its first-ever Juneteenth celebration at the Fair Lawn Community Center. Juneteenth recognizes the end of slavery in the United States following the Union victory over the Confederacy in the Civil War.

Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. has launched a spotlight program in order to showcase the diversity and wide variety of businesses that exist within the Borough of Fair Lawn.

In advance of Mother’s Day, Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. launched a promotion that makes it easy to support local businesses and get mom a gift she’ll love.

Local attorney Dennis Cummins had an interesting anniversary recently, one that didn't escape the director of Main Street Fair Lawn.

"Fair Lawn is home to distinguished people," Greff said to the organization's members at the beginning of its April 12 meeting.

Cummins won a state supreme court case in 1973 that changed the form of Paterson city government.

The Fair Lawn Economic Development Corp. announced its restructuring as Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. to better address the needs of local businesses.

Additionally, the municipality recently launched a digital marketplace with every business listed. A shopper recently noted, "Going down River Road, I was surprised by just how many different kinds of businesses exist on one local road. Ice cream shops, taco restaurants, Chinese food places, exercise studios, pharmacies, diners: Fair Lawn really has it all!" It is truly a terrific place to live, shop, and do business in.
